Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
Johnny and Amber met in 2009 while they were
filming “The Rum Diary”. They started going out with each other in 2012
and, in the same year, Depp split up with his long-term partner Vanessa
Paradis. Johnny and Vanessa had been together for 14 years and had had
two children together.
In 2014, Johnny and Amber announced their engagement and they got
married a year later in a private ceremony. Their Hollywood marriage
seemed more or less ok until 2016 when Heard filed for divorce, claiming
that Depp had thrown a phone at her and had been abusive to her. Depp
denied attacking Heard and the judge agreed. It was later announced that
they had settled their differences and agreed to divorced. Indeed, in
2017, the divorce was legally finalized.
In 2018 she wrote an article for The Washington Post about domestic
abuse. She didn’t name Johnny Depp specifically, but she appealed to all
women to come together who had experiences of domestic abuse and
violence against women.
In 2020, The Sun newspaper in the UK claimed that Depp is “a wife beater”.
Depp then sued the paper and won. His ex-wife, Vanessa Paradis defended
Depp and said he is definitely not a violent person.
In the same year, 2020, Depp claimed that Heard had had affairs with
Elon Musk and actor James Franco and that she has hit him and put
excrement in their bed.
In 2021, Heard sued Depp for $100 million, and in April, 2022, the trial
started. Both Depp and Heard appeared in court. The saga continues...
