IPads for Schools
A school in the UK has decided not to use any
pens, paper or books and intends to supply each student with an iPad.
The school, which has 11 to 16-year old pupils, claims that they will
save money on printed books and photocopies.
They also say that the children will have less weight to carry in their
backpacks and internet access will provide teachers with more resources
for the students to use both inside and outside the classroom.
Privacy concerns will be addressed by the installation of special
software that will restrict the use of the internet to approved websites
only.
In other words, the iPads will be locked down and they will only be able
to be used for schoolwork.
Teachers at the school are complaining that the iPads mean more work for
them as the entire school curriculum has to be re-written.
