Russian Snow Painted White Due
to Pollution
Residents in a coal-mining Russian town were very
surprised when their usual brown snow mysteriously
turned white.
The authorities have been using ‘modern technology’ to
hide the effects of pollution with white paint. The
pollution comes from coal mines in the area which turn
snow black as it falls.
The local government have apologised to residents and
have promised not to paint the snow white again.
