Christmas Stockings

According to legend, a kind, rich landowner became very sad after the
sudden death of his lovely wife and wasted all of his money. This left
his three young daughters completely poor and with a very dark future
in front of them.

When he heard of the girls’ problems, the generous St.Nicholas, came
to help. He rode his white horse to the landowner’s house and threw
three small bags of gold coins down the chimney where they were caught
in the stockings the young women had hung by the fireplace to dry.
