Fear of Flying

I’m sure there’s a name for this, like a phobia, or something but I’m going to call it fear of flying. I don’t have it but I know someone who does. A good friend of mine will only travel by car, train or boat.
I fly often, to be honest I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve flown in my life, but the older I get, the more anxious I am when I board a plane. Maybe it’s age. People say that we get more frightened and nervous of things as we get older because we value life more.
A plane I was in nearly crashed once. I was in India and I flew in a small, two-engine plane that missed the runway and had to circle around for another try. It was very scary!
Statistics say that it’s safer to fly than to drive, but it certainly doesn’t feel that way when you’re up in the air. Personally, if I could choose, I’d rather take a train. It feels a lot safer, you’re on the ground and you can enjoy the view or have a sleep or read a book until you reach your destination.
